Oregon Greens in Tight Race for Gov. Nod
Imagine that you are attending your state Green Party convention. Now imagine that there are two people, both apparently qualified, who want your party's ballot slot in the Governor's race. The good folks of the Pacific Green Party of Oregon had just such a convention this past weekend...and a run off may be needed! Hit the "Read more!" link to get the rest of the story...
The article, printed in the Corvalis Gazette-Times says that two investment bankers, one retired, are seeking the party's nod in Oregon's Governor's race this fall. The turn out at the state convention was about 50 or so it would seem from the report, and the vote on who would get the nomination was split almost 50-50, with some provisional votes to be counted. The folks who cast them were not on the list of registered Greens I gather.
If the result of counting the provisional votes is a tie, the state party may hold another convention to hold a run off...or so the article says.
The piece does make us look a bit out-of-the-ordinary, but I guess that's fair.
