Very Disappointed in Rebecca Rotzler

In an email to the National Committee, Ms. Rotzler, a national party co-chair and elected Green in New Paltz NY wrote
Steve and I were in communication prior to his switch in order to run in the dem primary which was an excellent idea, in my opinion. If we would have communicated further I would have advised, rather, insisted against any comment regarding the green party regardless of how he felt at the time as I know perfectly well that the corporate press with their backroom democrats would eat it up and that would become the focus, not his run against a woman whom I cannot believe can be a mother to a child and agree to war. Nothing against any men, Steve is a wonderful father (as is Sander from what I have seen) and I know that adds to his motivation, that is just my opinion as a mother. I am also against negative campaigning, period. It tends to bite you where it becomes difficult to sit down. Steve has admitted that he erred, we are a party of peace therefore further a public whipping is not in order, I suggest punching a wall or a board placed between two cinder blocks(you will look cooler and it will hurt less) to vent the frustration and anger. Can we accept his apology, let it be, and get back to doing what we can to get people elected and put a stop to this war?

Rebecca R.

Sorry Rebecca, this means that you were aware all these months of Steve Greenfield's stupid plan to try to hijack the Democratic primary and persuade his supporters to follow him, Pied Piper like, back to the Green Party. This shows you have precious little respect for the voters of New York and Steve's potential supporters in particular. Do you believe in building the party by a widespread policy of cults of personality? It's hard to see how a thinking human being could imagine his supporters not being angered at being deceived. This is not Green behavior.

I am embarrassed that a national co-chair was involved in this stupid stunt.

I am embarassed that a political blogger would be so attacking of a situation he knows little about, that is not in his state, and that is among greens.

Rebecca Rotzler is a public official. She has to be very careful with her words and who and what she gives her blessing to.

And, Rebecca Rotzler is a friend of Steve Greenfield. Steve is a fellow green, who helped her first get elected.

I think, overall, all the missives she gave to try to be supportive to him without condoning all his actions were a noble thing to do.

Wonder how other greens would have handled it? (Oh, I do, many people turned like the tide an alternately attacked him, or supporting him, depending on their political agendas at the moment.)

Most good people and real activists would have handled the situation similarly to the way Rebecca did, although, maybe less gracefully then she.
