2 Million and counting
Doug Malkan, the Green Party's accountant, wrote the following to the National Committee:
This month we hit a financial milestone, since inception of the national party on 8/1/01 we have now raised over $2 million.
Now gang, don't get me wrong. I remember when we passed the first million. The second is sweeter still, but I can't help but thinking that we would be so much better off, especially out here in the hinterlands of progressive politics, if the national party were to bring in the next million before the November elections! If only dreaming would make it so.
Make you a deal. If someone donates $5000 to the Green Party, I'll write 5000 words for them, whatever they want. I'll write a series of speeches, a business plan, a short story, the outline and first few chapters of a book, sappy poetry, anything... ~Smiles sweetly~ The Green Party will spend the money well, I am sure.
