Pentagon: 40,000 have deserted since 2000
In an article published at Army Times by Ana Radelat of the Gannett News Service, the US military says that more than 40,000 US troops have deserted since 2000, meaning that they are risking courts martial and fines and/or jail time, or never returning to their homeland.
