URGENT-Can you help IL this weekend?
This is from Phil Huckleberry, co-chair of the IL Green Party.
This is extremely urgent and I want to make sure it reaches the largest possible number of Greens.
As many of you know, on Monday, June 26, the Illinois Green Party submitted 39,390 signatures to get our six candidates for statewide office on the ballot. The statutory requirement is 25,000.
As expected, on Monday, July 3, operatives of the Democratic Party filed official objections to our papers. The research we have been able to do so far has substantiated that many of the charges are not merely false but outright fraudulent. They've objected to the signatures of our gubernatorial candidate, two city council members from Peoria, the chancellor of Southern Illinois University, and many other prominent community members across the state. The entire thing is insulting and infuriating. And now we have to defend those signatures.
In order to defend those signatures we have been working on a comprehensive database of our petition signatures. We are about two-thirds done. But this upcoming Wednesday, the official "binder checks" begin in Chicago.
WE NEED HELP, IMMEDIATELY, TO COMPLETE THE DATA ENTRY SO WE CAN PROPERLY DEFEND OUR SIGNATURES.
WE ALSO NEED HELP WITH THE "BINDER CHECKS" IF PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO COME TO ILLINOIS DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS.
Some of you were previously able to help us with data entry, and that has been greatly appreciated. We need the help again, and we need it right away; as in, we need to be able to send people 100 signatures' worth of data for transcription and a *24 hour turnaround*.
Please email me directly if you are able to assist with data entry. You will get a reply from David Sacks with the necessary files and further instructions.
If you are at all able to spend time in Illinois in following weeks, please let me know. You will get a reply from Sarah Heyer about that.
We are not going to let these people keep us off the ballot. We're getting on, we're getting our 5%, and come 2008, we'll have our ballot access and will be able to return the favor.
Thank you all in advance. We are extremely stressed out and worn thin here and all help we can get is immensely appreciated.
